Word by Word

Proverbs 3:3 NIrV

Don’t let love and truth ever leave you.

Tie them around your neck.

Write them on the tablet of your heart.

“Man, everything else comes with instructions, I sure wish there was an instruction manual on how to raise kids. I sure wish I had an instruction manual on how to survive life in this world.”

Those words have actually passed through my lips. One day, a light bulb moment lit me up as it cast a light on my bible. What many consider to be an ancient manuscript written by old men centuries upon centuries old, many have yet to see it come to life as a living word. A living word that applies to every single situation I ever have or ever will encounter.

Our words reveal our heart condition. Every part of us is connected. Every part of us serves a purpose. Our tongue shares our words, but our words form in our hearts.

Sometimes it is easier to speak the words without considering how they connect to our heart. How we use our speech is imperative to how we interact with the world. The gift of speech is amazing isn’t it?

Like all other gifts we have, it comes with an alternate use. We get to choose.

Hear that?

We get to choose how we will use our gift of speech.

Peter 3:3-5 NIrV

3We put a bit in the mouth of a horse to make it obey us. We can control the whole animal with it. 4And how about ships? They are very big. They are driven along by strong winds. But they are steered by a very small rudder. It makes them go where the captain wants to go.

5In the same way, the tongue is a small part of the body. But it brags a lot. Think about how a small spark can set a big forest on fire.

Every gift we have been given by God comes with a choice.

Our God is God who has also given us the gift of free will.

And for that, I am grateful beyond measure this life comes with an instruction manual.

I can speak about love and truth, but unless my heart condition is focused on using my words to show I believe in the power of my words- telling is all I’m doing. The action of love and truth finds its life source in my heart – and that is where showing my words are rooted in God’s truth and love – that is the proof of God’s presence in my life.

Have an amazing day my friends!

Janet
