Tiny Details

Matthew 6:8-15 NIrV

Your Father knows what you need even before you ask him.

“This is how you should pray.

“ ‘Our Father in heaven,

may your name be honored.

 May your kingdom come.

May what you want to happen be done

on earth as it is done in heaven.

Give us today our daily bread.

 Forgive us our sins,

just as we also have forgiven those who sin against us.

Keep us from falling into sin when we are tempted.

Save us from the evil one.’

“Forgive people when they sin against you. If you do, your Father who is in heaven will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive people their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.

I find great comfort when I go back and read a scripture I remember being taught as a child. Also, commonly known as The Lord’s Prayer, with a few extra verses that follow it, I need to be reminded often of these Godly principles and instructions. Instructions that will help me find peace on this earth – the peace that begins deep in us as our spirit connects to the lifeline God has planted in each of us.

This butterfly was flitting around my purple salvia. Then another came. And another.

I began working through all the shots I took of them, when I came to this one, I knew she was going to become famous today. (You know – because she is on Janet’s blog!)

The clarity and detail of every marking on her is stunning. But I think what impresses me the most is the tiny orange dots at the end of her antennas.

. . . and Jesus’  words come to mind. Assuring me of God’s love for me, His attention to detail in my life and the connection I have with Him through prayer and the importance of that connection being healthy.

This tells us that He knows what we need even before we ourselves do.

There have been times when I have paced through my house with my arms in the air, crying.

“Oh Lord! I don’t even know what to pray for. I don’t know what I need. I don’t know what to do. But, You, God – You know! I trust You. I lay everything at Your feet Lord. I pray for stillness and peace in me as You work in my circumstances. Use me Lord to be a reflection of Your work in me. May I be able to witness to this world, a bold story of redemption and living loved as Your daughter.”

And something changes in me. Even my heart rate relaxes.

But You, God.

You know.

Praying for peace,

Janet

  • Butterflies are just stunning, aren’t they? When I was little one planted itself on my head in my Grandma’s garden – a beautiful monarch butterfly. I love seeing others so in love with their Maker, listening intently for His Voice. Nice to “meet” you through Write 31 Days.
