That split second when the sun breaks the horizon. Waiting through the darkness of night, wondering – when – when and sometimes “if” – its hold will be broken by the power of light – the blindness in the darkness feels permanent.
Whether we are experiencing this ourselves or if we are standing by helplessly watching ones we love groping in the darkness, we have to remember how God promises He is our savior. Our redeemer. Our hope. I’ve stood in both places. I thought I knew God all my life. I did know about Him.
BUT, I believe with every beat of my heart and every breath I take that in the darkness – it is there I met Him – as a Light appearing over the horizon – I know that I know that I know – that now I know God in a way I never imagined. Growing old with Him is better than I could ever have dreamed.
Sending big hugs to those hurting hearts in my world. Sending prayers for God to show up big on your horizons. Sending hope and much love your way today.
This is one of the many verses I return to over and over again. Right here is where I began to truly KNOW God.
The whole earth is filled with awe. God brings forth songs of joy. Dawn brings the light. God brings songs of joy. My heart wonders at the depth of His love for me. He knows me better than any human. How can my mind absorb that? When I feel yucky and discouraged I get to choose. Will I draw closer to Him, to be refilled with His love or will I push Him away and sink deeper into the yuck? Don’t underestimate what forgiveness is about. he has forgiven His children. He has forgiven me and all my yuck. He fills my heart with joy. Falling from heaven, filling my brokenness and lifting me up – kind of joy.
“Lord, thank You! Thank You for how You love us. The tender love we know when we walk with You, the ways You show Your presence in our lives and the senses you gave us to experience Your creation, thank You. Lord, walk closely with us this week. Fill us with Your Light and Your joy. To You be the glory in all we do. Forgive us as we sin. Give us the courage to forgive others. Help us love like You love. In Jesus’ name. Amen.”
