We Should Love – Day 18

pier-in-fog-square

I had the privilege of hearing some mighty powerful men and women speak. The turmoil in our country is becoming even louder than last week.

We listened to Pastor Francis Chan, Dr. Ben Carson, Eric Metaxas, Dr. James McDonald and Jennifer Rothschild. The worship music was beautiful. The service was led by Kirk Cameron.

I haven’t seen all the latest movies, so I didn’t know who Miss Clara was – but I do now. Beautiful prayer. Amazing pray – er.

I tried to make some notes but it was like the flood gates opened.

We all have our political views. We can agree on that.

What happened tonight was laying down the worldly reaction to people who think differently than we do and picking up the words of Jesus and applying them to What we should be doing next.

Following are some of the quotes I managed to get down. This is rough and not edited – oh well. That’s not what is important here.

Across the board each speaker spoke that the number one task at hand for all of us right now is to pray.

From Ben Carson – “Liberty and justice for all. Not some for one group and some for another and none for yet another.” “Jesus said a house divided against itself cannot stand.” “Fighting against each other leaves no one to fight for us.”

2 Chronicles 7: 14  “if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”

continuing . . . “This country is the child of all other nations.” “We have a role to play, 25,000,000 million Christians did not vote in the last election.” “We don’t have to be victims and sit back and complain. Freedom isn’t free.”

From Eric Metaxas – “Freedom and faith work together.” “The role of faith is central and vital to the health of the government.” “Without faith America cannot be America.”

From Francis Chan – “1 John 3:11 For this is the message that you have heard from the beginning, that we should love one another”.

“We are born of God.” “Humble ourselves.” “Seek His face.” “The sadness is the church. The church has begun to look like the world. Are we living the way He wants us to live.”

From Jennifer Rothschild – 2 Corinthians 4:16-18  So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day.  For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison,  as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.

“Life isn’t always about being well with our circumstances, but well with our souls.” “Who I am and whose I am has a greater influence over me. The truth of who we are is what will influence the world around us. The truth that makes it well with our souls.” “Jesus is the author and the finisher of our faith.”

Anxiety has become prevalent in our society. Few of us, if we are completely honest, can claim we have never experienced it. One of her best remarks regarding anxiety – “It always involves, what if’s. If we changed our focus to the “what is” in our lives, our perspective on everything else shifts.”

God is – God

God is – love

God is – peace

God is – an abundance of patience

God is – forgiving

From Dr. James McDonald – “Let the word of God speak.”

James 1:26 – 27  “If anyone thinks he is religious and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his heart, this person’s religion is worthless. Religion that is pure and undefiled before God the Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.

“Jesus is the way to pure religion. Faith is internal. The proof of the thing that is unseen is in the heart that serves.” “God’s people need to become humble again.”

From Kirk Cameron – Deuteronomy 6:4-7 “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.

Remember – FIRST – PRAY

I believe you can find a theater showing the rebroadcast next week on the website www.reviveus2016.com

There is no doubt our country is in for a change – through prayer, I believe the change will start in our own hearts.
