janet's story

Born in 1955 in a small western Pennsylvania town, Janet was raised on a farm out in the country. The oldest of five, she learned every aspect of the hard work farm life required. It is there her roots grew deep into God’s creation and the beauty of it there. Her appreciation of His hand in everything she saw has kept her grounded in her journey.

This led to a passion for photography. Over time, this has never waned. Her passion grew to include travel. Visiting over forty countries keeps both these passions alive.

Married at eighteen, four children quickly joined the ranks. Moving around the country added to her delightful experiences of learning new cities and meeting new people.

Finally, settling in south Louisiana in 1993, this has become her home. Now with eight grandchildren ranging from eighteen to newborn, her life is filled with many adventures, experiencing life with them. Her heart is full of the sixteen precious souls she gets to do real life with every day.

After divorce, she has taken a slow, painful journey of discovery.

This is the perfect picture of the joy my pets and I share. Not shown is the frustration of living with white furniture and a lab/dane mix who sheds her weight in hair every month, the mishaps in the litter box and the health problems of my sweet Napoleon. Our joy overshadows all that. Just as the joy I have living in Christ overshadows the daily struggles of this life hover.

Working through the maze of shattered hearts including her children’s and grandchildren’s, a new passion was discovered.

She now writes through her challenges. Through betrayal, broken trust, lost relationships including church and family, shame, sadness and much grieving, she connects to others experiencing hard times with authenticity.

Through the combination of her photography, travel experiences and writing she brings together pieces of life in ways that connect with the hurting people who need to know they are not alone.

She writes of grieving, believing it is a life long process, never ending but shifting, carrying us through seasons and prayerfully bringing us all to a closer relationship with God.

Bringing an awareness to broken hearts that it is possible to recover, never being the same, but learning that with God we can live a life better than we ever imagined. This is her life passion to share the hope she has found in His open arms.

Building a community of hope - the hope that Christ offers us - this is her heart’s desire to live out her days sharing the hope that comes only through Him. A hope that carries us into eternity.
