Show Me

December 15, 2018

I remember discovering I would much rather be shown I was loved than being told I was loved.

Actions speak louder than words.

Show me – don’t tell me.

Some of us were talking recently, discussing our current relationship with God.

This relationship today looks nothing like it did decades ago or even a year ago.

We agreed as every day passes, our relationship with Him deepens, becomes richer and sweeter.

Our journeys through this maze of life are complicated.

But one thing we all agreed on – our lives are better – no matter what we have been through or what is yet to come – because we have fought hard to stay connected to God.

Making this choice is not the “lame” way out or for the weak of heart.

It is a devoted, disciplined and difficult way of living.

I have survived so much broken trust, lost love through death and by choice and the overwhelming doubt of anyone’s words being truth.

The one truth I live by – every single day – is this. God shows His love, tells us He loves us and lives that truth and the promises He has made – every day.

He promised the Messiah would come.

The Messiah came.

Not in the form of an earthly king but as a tiny baby king, born a human birth, living a human life, allowing Himself in a human body to be put on a cross – showing us the depth of His love in the ultimate sacrificial act – as He died there.

“For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die— but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭5:7-8‬ ‭ESV‬‬

God shows us His love.

Go.

Be that kind of love – the one whose actions reflect the love and forgiveness we have been given by God.

“God, please be with each of us in this season. Some of us are breaking so bad, we feel we may never recover. Some of us are healing and rejoicing in Your presence in our lives the past year. Some of us are creating new memories with loved ones this year and some of us are grieving the losses of the past year. Be with every single one of us – we know You love us because of Your presence in our lives. May we see You clearly when we can barely open our eyes and hearts to see or feel anything. We praise You, Lord. Most holy. Most high. Amen.”
